Swing Out Rockford is our annual event where we host a large dance and
donate our profits for the year to charity.
The Thomas Gunthar Trio will be playing from 9pm-Midnight. There will be
an hour six count East Coast Swing lesson from 8pm-9pm.
The cost for the event is $10.
This year donations will be made to The Rockford Rescue Mission and
Sharefest.
For volunteer opportunities contact Tina Cuppini or Katherine Koehler.
Located at Mount
Olive Lutheran Church in Rockford.
Food, refreshments, souvenirs, tapes and CDs are available at the venues. The outdoor venue at LeClaire Park features a food court, an outstanding band shell, bust of Bix and historic plaques, water and restrooms, and a grandstand seat for action on the Mississippi River. Next to the park is moored the Rhythm City Casino riverboat for those who like to try their luck. There is comfortable seating and endless room for folding chairs and blankets. Those who wish may bring in their own food and refreshments.
There will be nine of the nations top jazz bands alternating at the four venues throughout the festival. Also demonstrating their jazz proficiency will be members of the Bix Jazz Society Youth Band, carriers of the torch for the next generation.
